This is how I understand LGPL. I'm not a lawyer, but this is how a lawyer explained it to me: With GPL, if you use a GPL library in a commercial product, you MUST ship the source of the original library along with the source of all your modifications PLUS the sources of all the proprietary code using the library. With LGPL, you must ship the source of the original library, you have the option of shipping your modifications/extensions to the library and you do not have to ship the source of any proprietary code just using the library. The moral of the story is, if you plan to use any GPL libraries at all, you must ship all your sources.
