Some things needs to be made clear here: You can say that you choose the Apache-licence without transfering any copyright to the Apache Software Foundation (ASF)! There are plenty of projects which are doing so. If you look at such licences you will find something like this: /* ==================================================================== * The MyXYZProject Software License, Version 1.1 * * (this license is derived and fully compatible with the Apache Software * License - see http://www.apache.org/LICENSE.txt) * * Copyright (c) 2001-2004 The MyXYZProject Group. All rights reserved. [...] * 3. The end-user documentation included with the redistribution, * if any, must include the following acknowledgment: * "This product includes software developed by the * MyXYZProject Group (http://www.MyXYZProject.org/)." * Alternately, this acknowledgment may appear in the software itself, * if and wherever such third-party acknowledgments normally appear. * * 4. The names "MyXYZProject" and "MyXYZProject Group" * must not be used to endorse or promote products derived from this * software without prior written permission. For written * permission, please contact [email protected] . * * 5. Products derived from this software may not be called "MyXYZProject" * or ... , nor may "MyXYZProject" or ... appear in their * name, without prior written permission of the MyXYZProject Group. * [...] * ==================================================================== */ This is a copy which I pasted directly from a project which is doing so, except for the substitutions. So all you have to do is substitute some occourences of ASF with your own project. I think the ASF staff would suppress a smile otherwise ;-) Regards, Thorsten
