Hi Christian, I think this link is interesting, as it comes from the original writers of the license : http://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl-faq.html#MereAggregation It mainly says that two programs that communicate through pipe, socket, networks, ... are probably not 'combined'. So GPL won't apply to a program just using data in a GPLed database !
