RE: Barracuda: How to output XML Conformant HTML?

So it seems like there are 2 issues here:

1. getting XMLC to actually compile the templates as XHTML (can we ask about
this on the XMLC list?)

2. creating a set of XHTML renderers for Barracuda

This second one isn't actually that hard. If you can figure out how to do
the first one, I could probably create a set of renderers pretty quickly
because I think they would be very similar to the HTML renderers that
already exist. Then you could test them out and make adjustments as needed.

THoughts?

  Currently, this is a shortcoming of Barracuda because the components
currently don't support XHTML.  If you don't use Barracuda components, then
this is much less of an issue, but Imagine you are using BTemplate or
something like that, right?  I'm not sure how much of an effect that would
have on XHTML, but certainly the other HTML specific components require
analogs in XHTML.  Now, are you using the XHTML extensions for XMLC?  If you
are not, then you will definitely have issues because the DOM stored won't
be representative of XHTML.  As far as using the XMLC taskdef, I'm not sure
what the flags to compile as XHTML are?  I know there are a few Barracuda
users who have used the XHTML extensions.  Hopefully they can speak to this
issue.  Otherwise, check out the XMLC docs for the appropriate flags to
provide to XMLC to compile as XHTML and provide those to the taskdef.

  We definitely need to provide XHTML support in Barracuda given the current
push toward XHTML.  So, you can consider this a relatively high priority
but, as yet, we have no one currently assigned to that particular task.  If
you are adamant about using XHTML, then you should probably, for now, drop
the Barracuda component model and stick to only using the event and forms
models.  Then, just use straight XMLC XHTML document extensions until better
support for XHTML components in Barracuda is provided.
