For XMLC 2.2, the page reloading has been completely rewritten (now, it's appserver independent and quite a bit faster because it doesn't need to recompile). It's not yet out officially, but an alpha release is available at http://homepage.mac.com/taweili/XMLC.html and the code is in CVS of course. If you want to use on-the-fly page reloading, I'd strongly advise you to use the new reloading code.
