DODS, Firebird and Enhydra Shark all working together

Hi All,



We are starting a project where we will use Enhydra Shark as our wfe, and have decided that Firebird will be the standard database for our project platform. When one of our guys looked into installing Shark with firebird, we found that DODS, Octopus and Shark did not list firebird/interbase as one of the preconfigured dbvendors.. hmm.. ok..



So our guy (Marc) went about making the necessary changes to the dods.jar, the octopus jar and the Shark app for it to work with Firebird, and has thus far completed the feat successfully. 



So my question is, is this code useful to the DODS team? To other DODS users? I would think so, so if the DODS team wants it, we will happily submit what we have....



Or did we miss a big posting somewhere that said get your "Firebird - DODS configuration files here.."?  Been known to happen:)



And what is the history with firebird and enhydra? I have seen some dated info on how to set up Firebird with the Enhydra Server, which confused me because I would assume the same DODS is used in the server as elsewhere, and the setup instructions were minimal - which is why I questioned whether there is already a solution available to us, because what Marc needed to code was a bit involved (Firebirdconf.xml, etc.). And I found almost no inquiries about Firebird usage with DODS/Octopus/Shark, so I assumed thats why the support isnt there, not a big enough demand??
