Hi, 1. kSoap does not support (as far as I know) attachements. However, if your binary data is included within your soap body (as base64 data) then kSoap can handle it. 2. XML encoding/decoding is provided by kXML (1 or 2, depending on the version of kSoap you use) so you can do what you want. 3. There is no tool to generate code from WSDL in kSoap. You will have to implement you WSDL by hand (thus you need to understand how kSoap works). 4. The structures can be as complex as you want. kSoap offers 2 mechanism for the java/XML mapping : KvmSerializable and implementing your own Marshaler. For example, in one of my projects I created my own Marshaler to encode/decode a pretty complex and big XML document embedded into a SOAP call. You can find an article that describes how to use kSoap here : http://www.javaworld.com/javaworld/jw-08-2002/jw-0823-wireless.html Hope it helps, ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sebastien Petrucci Java Technology Consultant - Altran Europe Philips Remote Control Systems Interleuvenlaan 74-76, B-3001 Leuven (Belgium) M +32(0)497502521 T +32(0)16394 598 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Rana, Gaurav (STP)" <[email protected]> Sent by: [email protected] 2003-03-18 22:09 Please respond to ksoap To: <[email protected]> cc: (bcc: Sebastien Petrucci/LEU/COMP/PHILIPS) Subject: Ksoap: kSOAP functionality? Classification: Hello, I have very limited knowledge of SOAP and would like to know if the kSOAP package be able to provide me with the following functionality: 1. Send/receiving binary data 2. SOAP API for decoding/ encoding XML data. 3. Have the ability to make use of WSDL to send custom encoded XML. 4. How complex data structures can be sent using kSOAP.
