byte mapping

hello all,
Could somebody tell me why the byte is not registered (mapped)?

If I want to send a byte, I can't. I must change it into an Integer and then
send it. Why ?

In the DM class, there is no mapping for byte. Only for int, boolean, string
and long ?

Please someone answer ASAP,
