Problems with escaping <

Forgive my question, I am a newbie to XML and real new to kxml.
I write my XML  document to a file using the fileOutputStreamWriter =
together with the XmlWriter.  Now I have for example "&lt;"  for the "<" =
sign.

How can I change it? Any help would be great!
