For code samples you may start with Shark from Scratch [1] and How-To 
[2] documents, or looking through JSPClient sources.
As for class path question: simple answer would be include all jar files 
from output Shark directory:
+ lib - contains API
+ lib/engine - kernel and internal components
+ lib/contrib - third party jars (DODS, log4j, BeanShell,...)
