question about the store of relevant data

hi all, 

I need helps. I want use shark in my application, and I found in the examples, the process's relevant data were stored in shark database(I use mysql).

My question is:I still need define my own tables for the process data?(such as the there is a OA process, and there are much document's data). if yes,how can I process the data  in my own tables and that in shark's tables.
