tool application is executed before the activity is assigned or after the activity is assigned

I am doing another test.

I have an activity defined with a tool application and defined "worker;"
(process variables) in its performer field. The activity is in "arbitrary
expression". Please refer to the attached picture. I use
XPDLStraightParticipantMappingAssignmentManager in this test. I have the
questions that I cannot found from Shark documents:

1. The tool application "RunApp" is executed before the activity is assigned
or after the activity is assigned to "worker;" ?

2. Could I use the tool application "RunApp" in the test to determine the
value of the variable "worker" and then let Shark assign the activity to
that user?
