In case anyone is interested:

I was having large performance problems running Shark 1.1-2 using Oracle
as a datastore. I managed to cut the time in half it takes to create
and start a new process (although its still over 10 seconds and not
acceptable to our users) by adjusting the following parameters in the
Shark.conf file:

DODSPersistentManager.useStandardVariableDataModel=false

DODSEventAuditManager.useStandardVariableDataModel=false

DatabaseManager.defaults.cache.maxCacheSize=0

DatabaseManager.defaults.cache.maxSimpleCacheSize=0

DatabaseManager.defaults.cache.maxComplexCacheSize=0
