Code using NotifyingEventAuditManager

We have a process with a data variable initialised to some value say -1. I 
want to define an activity which should listen for a change in the value 
of that variable  - it should start only when that variable changes. 

I can see from 
http://mail-archive.objectweb.org/shark/2005-03/msg00224.html that Daniel 
Frey's NotifyingEventAuditManager is probably what I should use. I was 
wondering if anybody has any code that they can share to give me a jump 
start..?
