Hi,
the new version of Shark XPDL engine is now released and available for
download from http://sourceforge.net/projects/sharkwf/files/shark/4.0-1.
This is the first Shark version based on XPDL 2.1 specification and BPMN.
When uploading old XPDL 1.0 files into Shark 4.0-1, they are
automatically being converted into XPDL 2.1 model according to XPDL 2.1
spec and BPMN rules, such as:
- Migrating Ids for activities and activity sets - must be unique
on the package level
- Migrating Tool activities into Task-Application activities, if
there are more than one tool for the activity - new activities get
created and connected sequentially
- Migrating activities (other than Route activities) with Join
type different than XOR and Split type different than AND by creating
additional Route (gateway) activities that are containing those
Join/Split types, and connecting them sequentially
- Migrating Route activities with different Join/Split type into
two seperate activities and connecting them sequentially
- Migrating old Deadline's DeadlineCondition into
DeadlineDuration sub-element, according to new schema
- Migrating old XOR/AND Join/Split types into Exclusive/Parallel,
according to new schema
- Removing FormalParameter Index attribute, according to new schema
- Migrating IsArray attribute value (of DataField element) from
TRUE into true and from FALSE into false, according to new schema
- Migrating Activity's Start/Finish mode elements into
appropriate attributes according to new schema
- Migrating Activity's Performer element into Performers element
according to new schema
- Migrating order of WorkflowProcess
sub-elements(DataFields,Participants,Applications -> Participants,
Applications, DataFields)
Even if you have a Shark 3.x database, and you switch to Shark 4.0-1,
the processes will continue to run normally (except in the cases when Id
migration was necessary during migration of XPDL).
There is a new project on sourceforge used by Shark called jXPDL
(http://sourceforge.net/projects/jxpdl). It is a library that is now
used both by Shark and by JaWE XPDL editor to handle XPDL 2.1 model. It
was previously the part of Shark project.
The future versions of Shark will support more and more from XPDL 2.1
specification.
Best Regards,
Sasa.
