one answer might be: "Because it made sense at the time". Another one 
might be: "EOB is not an EJB server, so lets not pretend it is. The 
whole point is that EOB learns from EJBs mistakes". But I don't actually 
know the answer...

not me :D. Not knowing EARs well, .eobs sort-of seem to make more sense 
to me...but I grew up with phoenix sars so I'm biased.
