Summary: persist the data to a database

Initial Comment:
The data is currently written to log files.

It seems that then we have add on functionality that processes those logs for reporting etc.

This is fine but the test statistics can be analysed and archived more easily from a sql database.

Message:
I'm guessing this work would dovetail with the logging ticket at
https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&aid=3418525&group_id=18598&atid=368598.
As I mention there, I would also favor supporting non-sql databases such
as bdb. If the choice of loggers were made configurable (and documented) ,
users could provide their own logger implementations.
