hi maks,

thanks for the pointer, h2 indeed looks very interesting. i've been
working lately on a jala database module [1] based on hsqldb mainly to
allow the jala unit test framework to use an embedded database within a
test. but h2 has some very interesting features, and after playing a bit
with it i'm thinking about switching to h2 in the future.
