Try browsing the code of  http://gobi.helma.org gobi , the wiki-framework by
Hannes. 
There are no updates anymore, as far as I see, but  the "Search" extension
by Robert Gaggl is quite instructive. You have to find the cvs-url for the
source of gobi for yourself, but it should be there somewhere, at least on
dev.helma.org. Also, peeking into the module-code of helma.search will
render some insight, as well as the documentation of lucene.
