1.8 Performance Issue on OS X 10.10.4

Is it okay to ask questions about HSQLDB 1.8 here? If not, is there another suggested venue?

We use hsqldb 1.8 in memory-only mode as part of our unit testing framework as a stand-in for an out-of-process database (e.g., PostgreSQL) when testing database access code. Recently, a couple of us upgraded to OS X 10.10.4 (from 10.10.3) and suddenly our unit tests are taking up to 10x longer. This appears to only occur in unit tests that leverage hsqldb. Does anyone have suggestions of things to try or debugging steps to take to try to figure out what’s happening? Presumably the upgrade changed some sort of system property (maybe related to memory allocation), but nothing appears in the OS changelogs and this is the only place we’ve found where the impact is visible.

Thanks in advance for any help or ideas.

Thom
