Alter table add index is showing type not found or user lacks privilege issue

Hi Team,

I am actually using embedded HSQL database in my application and we
recently migrated application from oracle to MariaDB and HSQL DB is
throwing "type not found or user lacks provilige " while running "alter
table table_name add index index_name (column_name)" and I saw from one of
your article that this syntax is also correct I am using Public schema with
SA user and version HSQL2.3.4
