Thanks, both to Martin and Claudio: the first draft implementation is now in master ! I get NPEs tryng to run conf/auth_krb5.xml, but that's probably because I haven't set up a Kerberos server. The important thing is that this code is now in JGroups and doesn't linger around somewhere outside the code base.
