Project Goals

I think that I have asked this in the past, but I can't find it.

What is the overall goal of this project?
Is it a drop-in replacement for PostNuke/PHPnuke
    Is it a better implementation of the same modules/blocks/theme system?
    Are you going to try to maintain URL patterns ?
Is it web application to serve the same type of users as the current 
PHPNuke type systems.

Why is it being done in Java?
    Speed, Code Organization - Maintainability, Scalability, Resume Fodder?

Hi all,
    I have been toying with JLCP since version 5 was packaged and I like 
the code layout and organization.  If you are moving slowly, at least 
you all seem to be building something of quality rather then a working 
collection of PHP hacks.

I am a professional 'extranet' developer by day and the free web 
consultant to friends and family  by night.  So I have thrown up a 
postnuke site or two. Eventually I customize the php sites by hacking  
(because that is easier then trying to understand the code). And 
Eventually I need to upgrade the site due to a security issue, and then 
I have to rehack my hack......

You get the point.

Anyway I am looking for a single platform that I can deploy in multiple 
ways for different people.  I played with things like openCMS and 
Zope/Plone, but they are too confusing for my 'customers'.  The postnuke 
model is simple and well used so they 'get it'.

I'm interested in using this type of application, and I want a stable 
codebase to work with.  Furthermore for the last year and a half I have 
not done any Java web app work (Using Webware / Python) so I could use 
some skill freshening and I like the architecture choices you have made.
