I need to send xml via cookies. So I have the following code:

Cookie cookie = new Cookie("cookieName", "");
cookie.setValue("xml=<?xml version=\"1.0\" encoding=\"UTF-8\" standalone=\"yes\"?>");
response.addCookie(cookie);

As you can see, double quotes were escaped. Then I've tried to get this string on my jsp:

<c:out value="Value: ${cookie.cookieName.value }" />

And I've got this:

xml=<?xml version=\"1.0\" encoding=\"UTF-8\" standalone=\"yes\"?>

My slashes were escaped somehow. When I'm trying to test this application on Tomcat 6 or JBoss 5.1.0, everything is fine. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks, Yury.
