That is part of the vision. Of course, its mostly not implemented :)

The Spice/DNA/Loom traffic is mainly due to the projects either being 
hosted as a part of jcontainer (or in close proximity)

Yes, you're in the right place! Bob has done some work that allows 
confluence-based data to be viewed "outside" the confluence shell 
(http://codehaus.org is now an example of this). Perhaps if 
jcontainer.org was flipped to such a scheme (basically putting a CMS 
behind it) the barrier to entry in adding content would be easier. 
Otherwise, patches to the site content are welcome in the interim :)
