Rod is splattered all over the front of The Server Side. He basically is 
the driver behind type-2 IoC in the form of the Spring Framework.

He's very interested in Jervlet, and I am sure will be too in all the 
other reusable bits from Spice. He'll want to make things type-2 
compatible (without compromising the cleanliness of type-1 and type-3 
designs). Theory being that it will help greater adoption of Spice bits.
