I did the tests with Java 1.5
for the 25 Mb file I received the same time (6 sec) for both jars.
But with the 75Mb file there is still a difference:
18 sec with jdom 1.0 (beta 7--> maybe this version had something to do with it?)
22 sec with jdom 1.1
(using the optimized code; iterator instead of get(i))

Did you tested the 75Mb file too?
