I'm pretty sure that you can never update an already deployed artifact. If
you could, it might compromise a build that depended on some specific code.
Your only choice would be to deploy a new artifact as 1.1.2.1.

Let's give jaxen a week to respond to the bug request that I filed. If they
don't deploy their code to maven central by then, I'll do it. It's pretty
easy. I'll post an update here when this is resolved.

For me, having your code in maven central really simplifies my dependency
management.
