The short (and sad) answer, is that there is no way currently to implement JESS in Android. There is no fix.* *=The possible workaround is to take the JESS source code, rewrite it to NOT use the java.beans package, and make your own object with the same attributes/functionality as a bean. You would also have to do this without your code being a copy/paste or too similar of an implementation of Oracle's java.bean package because they will sue you for everything you are worth :) OR *=Take the Android source code, implement the java.bean object, root your phone, install the custom firmware, and never share this with the world. As in this implementation, Oracle will also probably try to sue you. :) :) = Sarcasm and in no way am i seriously suggesting to re-use ANY oracle code on a mobile platform Sorry if the previous post didn't make much sense, but the overall commentary was that these newer smart phones are more than technically capable of running an expert system IF they had the necessary libraries used by the expert system. Due to legal battles between Oracle & Google (and the 20 pages of source code Google was stupid enough to copy/paste and not even remove the License comments), I highly doubt you will see the java bean object any time soon. In fact, with rumors of a current C implementation to Android, i wouldn't be surprised if they phased out the java implementation altogether. Your best bet to bring complex decision making to the handheld is create a J2EE-Jess web application, host server side, and use the smart phone as a provider of the fact base, displayer of results.
