Webtide Jetty Update: April

Development status
------------------

A stable version of Jetty 6.1.2 is close to finalized.  Thanks to all those
that have helped find those last few issues.  It is hoped that a stable
release will be available within the week.

Glassfish integration is proceeding well and should be released before JavaOne
next month.

Terracotta distributed session have been implemented and are in the contrib
repository.   This should approach stability next month.


Other News
----------

A significant new Jetty user is eclipse.  From the next release of
the, jetty will be embedded in all downloads of the IDE.   Jetty
is bundled as an OSGi HTTP server and is used as the basis for
services such as the info service and help pages.

---------------------

Jetty and Webtide will be at the Sun ComminityOne day, May 7 2007
in San Francisco. http://developers.sun.com/events/communityone/
Were we will be demonstrating the jetty glassfish integration.

Greg Wilkins will be speaking at JavaOne May 8-11 2207 in San Francisco
about Bayeux, cometd and the Jetty implementation of these Ajax push
technologies.  Greg Will be speaking with Alex Russel of Dojo and Jean
Francois Arcand of grizzly/glassfish (session TS-680).

Webtide will also have a presence on the terracotta stand at the
JavaOne expo.  We will be demonstrating Jetty terracotta clustering
integration for sessions and other distributed applications.

At any of all of these events, we would be more than please to
meet any Jetty users for a chat, just to say hello or a detailed
technical discussion.

An embedded Jetty server is used for the OSGi HTTP server within the eclispe IDE
and it is used as the basis of services like the infocenter.
EclipseTM is an open source community whose projects are focused on building an
open development platform comprised of extensible frameworks, tools and runtimes
for building, deploying and managing software across the lifecycle.


JRuby  http://jruby.codehaus.org
JRuby Rails integration gives you a rake plugin which allows you to package your
app as a webapp and try it out using Jetty.


DBSight Instant Scalable Full-Text Database Search  http://www.dbsight.net/

DBSight aids the creation of a Lucene search index from databases with an
administrative interface that provides the ability to tweak search rankings by
attributes of the data.

Webtide Architecture Consultancy
Our experienced jetty developers will design, or assist you in designing and
selecting the appropriate components for your web 2.0 solution.  We can also be
retained to mentor your development team during the development process.

Webtide Development
Taking the Architecture Consultancy service one level further, we can design,
implement and deliver an entire web 2.0 solution, acting either as part of your
development team, or as a fully outsourced provider. Webtide can development new
applications or assist you to migrate and optimize existing applications to take
advantage of Ajax techniques. Solutions created during a Development engagement
can be fully supported via our support contract offerings.

Webtide Developer Support
The Developer Support contract provides responsive support by senior jetty
developers to your development team. We will respond with advice and
recommendations within a guaranteed time frame. Inquiries are unlimited and we
will assist with diagnosis of issues on non-production systems.  The contract
also provides facilities to request enhancements either to jetty or your
application, with all customizations performed at a pre-approved hourly rate.
This contract is available with current, older and customized versions of Jetty
or Hightide and it's bundled components.

Webtide Production Support
The Production Support contract offers a proactive approach to maintaining the
quality and integrity of your production deployments. We will notify you of the
availability of important fixes to help you ensure your systems are protected.
In addition, we will diagnose and triage issues arising in production on your
systems or your clients systems for OEM. This contract can be used with any
version of Jetty or Hightide and it's bundled components.

Webtide OEM Support
Our OEM Support contracts are for clients who ship products containing Jetty. It
offers the same feature set as our Production Support contract with the
additional benefit that our support extends to diagnosing end-user issues.
