This really requires a fix at the jre level. The webappclassloader does extend urlclassloader, and as such it has to implement the contract of urlclassloader. I note that the issue in the java bug database you referred to is marked as fixed, so if you don't actually think it is fixed, the best thing to do is to reopen it.
