Dmirty,
Enough talk, it's time to put my money where my mouth is, or should I
say time. I have a need for a new object and will be creating it later
today/tomorrow depending on how it goes.

Basically this object will be another MultiPageList object, although it
will be nothing like the existing one. Well some things will be similar,
but then end goal is to have lists that are broken up into pieces.

Like most HTML lists, you specify how many can fit on a page, or I will
have the object determine it automatically like the multipage list
object I developed. But unlike the current object, only the ones that
can fit on a single page will be included in the resulting swf output.

Instead of using next, back, and home buttons, the new objects will
have numbers at the top/bottom of the lists. Those # will represent how
many pages of lists there are.

When a number is clicked on it will request the same swt that generated
the list. Although this time the list will contain the next n # of
records.

This should reduce the size of large lists, and speed up generation
time. Not to mention replicating a functionality that is commonly used
in HTML lists. Hope it makes sense. I am sure you have seen, and will
know what I am talking about when you see the object.

Now I have one question for you I do not know off the top of my head.
How can a swt determine it's own name and file path?

For example in order for my object to work, I will need to know the
name of the .swt and where it lies on the server. So that when I
generate the # buttons I can link them back to the same .swt and pass it
the record offset to start at.

Do you know of a call or a way I can do that without to much head ache.
Or a direction you can point me in. It would help out.

In the mean time I will get started on the object, and save how I
determine and add the url for a last step. Although I will need it in
order to test out the object.

Also what type of settings would you and others like to have. Of course
there will be a setting to determine the color of the #'s at the bottom.
There will be setting to either display a fixed amount of items, or
determine it automatically.

Do you think there needs to be a setting to control where the # buttons
go. Top/Bottom/Center/Left/Right. Both top and bottom?

Settings are easy to change, however once you use the object,
changing/adding/removing settings can be a pain. From past testing when
adding new settings, I must start a new fla, and move all the old stuff
into it. I have had file corruption problems with attempting to recycle
fla's while adding/removing env settings/options from a JGen/Gen object.

If you are really confused by what I am talking about, follow this link
to Ebay. Look at the bottom of the list, the numbers of pages, etc.
That's what I am talking about. The object will create in Flash lists
like that, or you can create lists like that using the new object.
