MP3 volume levels

Is it possible to adjust the volume levels on an mp3 file through the
JGen api.  Lets say I have a background sound playing.  The user clicks
a button start another mp3.  I want to drop the volume of the background
mp3  before I start playing the second mp3?  Is this possible?
