* What is Jicarilla-SUF?

  Jicarilla-SUF is an unsanctioned and unauthorized fork of parts of the
  Apache Avalon project (http://avalon.apache.org/).

* Why does Jicarilla-SUF exist?

  The answer to that question is rather complex. The Apache Avalon
  project is heading in an exiting new technical direction. All that
  excitement has caused some concerns with some of its users and
  developers alike. To alleviate these concerns, part of Apache Avalon
  was forked and placed in Jicarilla-SUF.

* Should I use Jicarilla-SUF?

  It is highly unlikely that anyone has a need for Jicarilla-SUF. You are
  much more likely to find that you need to use a software product
  produced by Apache Avalon. Please visit http://avalon.apache.org/ to
  learn more about avalon. It is probably best to direct further questions
  about Jicarilla-SUF and about Apache Avalon to the Avalon development
  team, whom can be reached through the [email protected] mailing
  list.

* Who owns Jicarilla-SUF?

  The vast majority of Jicarilla-SUF is owned by The Apache Software
  Foundation. Some parts of Jicarilla-SUF are probably owned by Leo
  Simons, since he did some work to extract it out of Apache Avalon, but
  he will happily transfer copyright on those pieces to The Apache
  Software Foundation or to any other non-profit organisation if such
  a thing should ever be required.

* What does SUF stand for?

  SUF stands for Some Unnamed Fork. It's considered bad practice by some
  to use the name of a project that is forked in the forked project, so
  a new "name" was invented.

* How is Jicarilla-SUF licensed?

  Just like Apache Avalon, Jicarilla-SUF is licensed under the Apache
  License, version 2.0. You may not use Jicarilla-SUF except in
  compliance with that License.
