Sorry for not being more clear. What I meant is the following: The
problem is not that we lack code for x64 baseline and opt compilers
(there is code for both in the RVM-977 patch set). The problem is that
the code is not on mainline because nobody had enough time to do the
required work.

We wouldn't gain anything from a GSoC project for x64 if the code is not
merged and we haven't had good experiences with trying to do the merge
at the end of GSoC. Therefore a student would have to merge code to the
trunk on a regular basis.
