We're certainly interested in any class library improvements that
enables us to run more benchmarks (e.g. RVM-484 and/or PR/38141). I'm
not sure that this would be suitable for a project under the GNU
umbrella, though. I see two problems with using Jikes RVM for
development in such a scenario:

1) We don't use the newest GNU Classpath release yet. (I would take a
look at doing the migration but there might be some problems on Mac OS
and I don't have a test machine to check for those.)

There is some rudimentary support for building from GNU Classpath's git
repository in our build system but more work on that would be needed to
make it useful for a GNU Classpath developer.

2) Failures might be on our end. We're certainly happy to get
corresponding bug reports but I'm not sure if we can guarantee
reasonably fast bug fixes.


>From the existing GNU Classpath idea list, the JMX improvement project
is also of interest to us (we had a project idea for JMX).

Other ideas that might not be worth it at this point in time are JDWP
and Java 7:

a) JDWP might be useful in the future but we currently don't provide any
debugging support and I don't know the status of it in GNU Classpath.
Does any Classpath-based JVM provide debugging support?

b) Support for the Java 7 APIs for dynamic languages may be useful in
the future. I haven't really taken a look at that so I don't know what
parts of the API are supposed to be provided by the class library. I
also don't know if anybody has been working on an implementation of Java
7 features for a Classpath-based VM.
