This could be a problem related to building GNU Classpath but it might also be something else. My recommendation would be to try to use the latest Jikes RVM version from Git or at least the 3.1.4 release. The 3.1.3 release still has GNU Classpath 0.97.2 which is ancient at this point. I wouldn't recommend using 3.1.3 unless you absolutely need to try to build on Mac OS which isn't supported on later Jikes RVM versions.

Additionally, if the problem doesn't occur with an unmodified Jikes RVM and if you have modified the Jikes RVM in any way, you could try to start from a clean copy. Then you could apply the modifications in small steps to find out what triggers the problem.
