Hi
We have just set up JIRA and have successfully set up the email consumer to receive emails from humans and create new issues and to receive and enter responses. This is working well.
Now we would like to set up a process to handle automated emails from systems.
System X (database, web server, application, etc) runs a process and sends an email to a system account. We would like to receive these emails in JIRA and
1/ Only create a new ticket if the subject line indicates an error
2/ Not follow the same path as emails from humans. (specially, emails from humans are all logged as issue-type = 'helpdesk calls' and manually assigned to an appropriate issue type by the helpdesk analyst after review. at a minimum assign system emails to a different issue type and ideally do item 4/ below)
3/ Ideally count how many emails are received each day
3.b/ Ideally create a ticket if the number of received emails differs from normal.
3.c/ Ideally do nothing if the expected number of emails are received, just consume them and delete them.
4/ Ideally automatically assign the ticket to a different person according to the system generating the email.
One of the issues is we receive about 200 emails a day and don't want to create 200 new issues a day to resolve. But we would like to be able to automagically create issues from errors and then have one place for people to look for incoming work.
Are there any plugins / methods / etc that I can look at to do this?
Regards
Karl
