The server isn't involved except for it's ip address. If you are on the same network you can access JIRA by using the ip address instead of 'localhost' in the URL. This requires a static IP on the server. If you want to use a server name or access from outside the network the server is on you will need a DNS server to translate the name to the ip address. You may also need to open ports on the firewall at the boundary of your network to the outside world. If you need more help contact the network support group in your company.
