Hi,

I've packed up and uploaded Richard Osbaldeston's
PingAutodl script to the Lopica Web Start Paradise
site.

PingAutodl is a little script (currently a Java
class) that lets you probe a server using the JNLP
version protocol over HTTP to check what Java runtimes
versions you can autodownload using Web Start.

You can invoke PingAutodl from the command line with
no parameters to check all the product version
strings, or by calling it with parameters (e. g.
PingAutodl 1.4+ 1.3) to probe the server for more
exotic best match strings.

For a first impression of PingAutodl in action check
out the ping report snippet below:

Checking for version (1.3.0) - Not Available, error
message "11 Could not locate requested version"
Checking for version (1.3.0_01) - Not Available, error
message "11 Could not locate requested version"
Checking for version (1.3.0_02) - Download version
1.3.0_02 available
Checking for version (1.3.0_03) - Not Available, error
message "11 Could not locate requested version"

and so on and so forth
