I have spent most of the morning looking at what it will take for JPublish to support execution in unpacked WARs. Unfortunately the list of changes is long and the results are problematic at best. - All managers will need new implementations that pull data from the ServletContext. - Some scripting languages will not work. My initial testing indicates that of Jython, JavaScript and BeanShell, only BeanShell properly loads classes using the context class loader. - Any calls to SiteContext.getRoot() or any other File based methods will fail. I am sure there are many other changes as well. The question I have is that given the scope of this change is it really worth the effort? How many of you can not live without the ability to run JPublish in an unexpanded WAR?
