That is a good question. I do not have any particular solution. However, a MacOS X user had a problem related to the host name (as it appears you have here). His solution was to add the name of his machine to the netinfo file. In your case, that would be the /etc/hosts file. On my work system (RedHat Linux 7.3), my /etc/hosts file looks like this: 127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain localhost While at home my (nearly identical) system has: 127.0.0.1 localhost chip 192.168.0.2 chip Maybe if you modify your /etc/hosts file to be something like mine, it will work. n P.S. Yes, even when launching the debuggee from JSwat, the JPDA still uses sockets to communicate between the debugger and the debuggee.
