It's just for the JSwat client; I've successfully debugged 1.3.1 apps with JSwat 2. However, you will need to be sure that your 1.3.1 app does not use the assert keyword, or JSwat will choke when it tries to parse the source. Can I use a Linux box running java 1.4.x with Jswat 2.17 to remotely debug a JVM running java 1.3.1? In other words, why is java 1.4 required for Jswat 2.xx? Is it to run it locally or to debug the (remote) target JVM? Or both? Hopfully this makes sense. Any RTFM references are perfectly acceptable.
