Copy In Code Window?

I have some open source code that I am looking at, and I want to experiment
with it in my editor.  It would be great if I could copy those lines of code
to the clipboard in order to paste them into my application.  Is there a way
to do this?  Ctrl+c does not work as expected, and no menu options appear to
support this either.  Is there a possibility for such an enhancement?
