Yes, it is indeed annoying. JSwat used to have an update center, but nothing ever went there (I never figured out how to set it up). Eventually I removed the UC definition when my web site was retired. Unfortunately, I don't know how to remove the feature from the NetBeans Platform. Maybe I can just hide the menu item, but the drawback is then it is not possible to ever offer a way to install additional modules. It's certainly possible for you to locate and define new update centers, install whatever NB modules you like, or even download .nbm files and install them (via that same UC dialog). So, removing it is not the right solution either. It's a kind of Catch-22. I don't want to remove it because it's useful, but it's not that useful unless you know how to set it up. The simple answer is, just ignore it. In the mean time, I could document this, and hope that folks see the docs before they spend too much time trying to make it work. n ----- Original Message ---- From: "[email protected]" <[email protected]> To: [email protected] Sent: Tuesday, April 1, 2008 11:44:24 AM Subject: [jswat-user] Auto-update feature not working I'm using JSwat 1.6.0 with JVM 1.6.0-b105, and have a question about the auto-update feature. When I do: Tools -> Update Center -> Next I get the error message: No Update Center Service Registered or Enabled To check the web for available updates and new modules you should go to Tools -> Options -> Advanced Options -> IDE Configuration -> System -> Autoupdate Types, add the appropriate update center service and enable it. Unfortunately, I can only do: Tools -> Options -> ... There's no "Advanced Options", so I'm stuck there. However, this *does* exist: Tools -> Options -> IDE Configuration -> System -> Update Center But even then, there's really not much that looks like it'll enable autoupdate. I see: Ask Before Check (checked) Last Check (blank) Show Negative Results (checked) Check Period "Every Week" I'm at a loss -- how do I enable the auto-update feature? Thanks!
