eclipse vs. ant

Tests run 10x slower in ant than in eclipse. Following the advice in these posts: http://marc.info/?t=116656587600001&r=1&w=2 I have set fork="false" and maxmemory="1000m" in build.xml. Would there be another explanation for the slowness in ant builds?
