[JXTA discuss] JXTA Language Bindings

Because of th= e=20 nature of the project, there may be some confusion. My original intent was= =20 to use jxta-ruby as the basis for another mobile project. By focusing on=20 constrained environments, my intention was not to get too bogged down in=20 getting all the JXTA functionality working in Ruby, just what is needed for= =20 devices.=20 I think that this may not have been the best approach because I am seeing= =20 three different projects emerge. 1) JXTA language binding project, 2)=20 JXTA-Ruby and 3) JXTA-Ruby for Constrained Environments, which should be a= =20 subproject of JXTA-Ruby. What I would like to do is to step back and=20 re-approach the problem. With tools like SWIG, we can create a general=20 binding that could be used for multiple languages. I would like to break th= e=20 bindings off into a separate project, say JXTA Language Bindings. We could= =20 then generate the infrastructure for groups that want to build up the=20 application in any of a dozen languages, from C# to Perl to Ruby. After=20 that, it makes sense to work on JXTA-Ruby using the underlying bindings. I= =20 did take a look at SWIG-1.3 and got it working on some test files so a JXTA= =20 language bindings project would be feasible. Thoughts?
