It depends on what is meant by real time. Any platform which relies on relays (JMS, JXTA relays, etc.) will be impacted by intermediary nodes. JXTA can provide enough throughput to support video and voice streaming in real time provided no relays are in between (with a relay the application will suffer latency). There are several applications built on JXTA which provide some form of real time streaming (see myjxta2 for voice, and video chatting).
