[JXTA discuss] Project Proposal: Project JXTA Content Repository Specification

This specification will define a how to store, manage and discover
content on a JXTA peer. As the P2P space fragments between limited
devices and more powerful network elements, only content that the
device is capable of using must show up within the P2P discovery and
provisioning process. This leads to the need of defining content rules
and of having the notion of content requirements and device
capabilities. Specific goals of the specification include:
    * Provide an XML schema and general object structures and
interactions for catalog information.
    * Content Rules Language: Method to filter types of content, size, etc.
    * Management of peer policies for content delivery within an
operator environment
    * Requirements Matching
    * Content Versioning

Platforms:
Since Project JXTA is a set of protocols, this specification is not
dependent on any platform or language. The CRS spec, however, must be
light enough to run on smaller devices (say the CDC platform) but must
be general enough to allow extensions to more powerful platforms (say
J2EE and .NET). These extensions must not break compatibility with the
limited devices.
