The original objective of the jxtaruby project was to create a Ruby implementation of JXTA. What we are talking about is dealing with jxta-ruby in a constrained environment, where we leave the JXTA implementation in C with Ruby Datatype wrappers. Should we set up a new project? I have looked through the jxta-c api. I looks easy to leverage. We will need to handle garbage collection from Ruby on the objects. I will check on any open-source work with compatible licenses. I would also be very interested in getting JXTA Ruby working on the Symbian OS. If the Symbian JXTA project has momentum, I will set up a project on sourceforge for porting of Ruby to Symbian and then we can coordinate these three projects.
